Chapter 3:

After Kiyohara Jun and the bullet comments simultaneously reached the conclusion that the person who had sent the assassin was Furukawa Masato, Kiyohara Jun paused.

He hesitated slightly and thought that if the bullet comments were truly an enemy’s ability, then they should not be guiding him toward the real culprit. Instead, they should have fabricated a culprit who would cause internal strife within the Port Mafia.

This made Kiyohara Jun begin to question whether the bullet comments were real. Perhaps everything the bullet comments said could actually be true.

Of course, that excluded all their messy, conspiracy-laden guesses about him.

After nodding and sending the subordinates away, Kogu Takuto turned and walked toward Kiyohara Jun’s desk with the files in his arms, only to discover that Kiyohara Jun was spacing out again.

Faced with Kiyohara Jun, who refused to learn no matter how many times he was taught, Kogu Takuto used the last shreds of his reason to remember, before losing his temper, that Kiyohara Jun was his direct superior.

Kogu Takuto took a deep breath. He told himself not to get angry. Kiyohara Jun was his superior. No matter how unreliable he was, it was still improper to get angry at a superior.

As he thought this, Kogu Takuto had clearly forgotten his own glorious record of losing his temper at Kiyohara Jun countless times.

After silently repeating this to himself several times, Kogu Takuto finally suppressed the anger in his heart. He did his best to show the attitude one ought to have when facing a superior, walked over to Kiyohara Jun, and said respectfully, “Lord Kiyohara, the files.”

Kiyohara Jun’s thoughts were interrupted by Kogu Takuto’s voice. When he saw Kogu Takuto’s respectful manner, he felt deeply confused.

Kiyohara Jun had long since grown used to how Kogu Takuto was extremely respectful to him in front of others, but behind closed doors, acted as though he were Kiyohara Jun’s second mother. Now that Kogu Takuto, who was practically no different from his mother, was actually showing him such a respectful attitude, Kiyohara Jun could not help suspecting that there might be an invisible person nearby whom he had failed to sense.

Kiyohara Jun looked around, but after failing to find any invisible person, he hesitantly asked, “Takuto, are you feeling unwell?”

“No.” Kogu Takuto combined that with Kiyohara Jun’s earlier action of looking around, and could figure out what Kiyohara Jun was thinking with his toenails. He shook his head, hid the speechlessness in his heart, and said as calmly as possible, “Lord Kiyohara, the files.”

Kiyohara Jun had neither found an invisible person nor obtained an answer from Kogu Takuto, so in his confusion, he could only attribute all of this to the fact that Kogu Takuto had been dazzled by how handsome he had looked while facing the enemy just now, and had therefore decided to treat him respectfully.

“Mm, mm. Just put the files here.” Kiyohara Jun cleared his throat, sat ramrod straight, and nodded in a deliberately dignified manner.

Kogu Takuto looked at Kiyohara Jun’s affected posture. The corner of his mouth twitched, but in the end, he said nothing.

【Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.】

【Adjutant: Speechlessness is my native language.】

【Their everyday interactions are really so interesting.】

【Jun really spares no effort when pretending to be a blockhead in front of the adjutant.】

【No wonder the adjutant is so thoroughly deceived. No matter who it was, no one would imagine that a blockhead like this belonged to the Scriptwriter Group.】

【Kiyohara Jun is acting? His acting is so good. I really thought he was a blockhead.】

With a string of bullet comments floating before his eyes, Kiyohara Jun tried to see through them and make out the words on the files. In the end, however, he failed.

This had to be an enemy scheme. Kiyohara Jun reached this conclusion. The enemy must be trying to use these bullet comments to disturb his vision, thereby achieving their goal.

Just before Kiyohara Jun had no choice but to ask his adjutant to read the files aloud for him, perhaps influenced by his will, two lines of text that were clearly different from the bullet comments appeared before his eyes.

[Bullet-comment transparency lowered]

[Screen obstruction prevention function activated]

After these two lines of text appeared, Kiyohara Jun felt his vision clear. The previously densely packed bullet comments became somewhat transparent, and they no longer appeared over the files. Instead, they only scrolled across the desk or the empty air.

Looking at the bullet comments that no longer affected his vision, Kiyohara Jun fell into deep thought yet again.

Were these bullet comments really an enemy’s ability? If they were an enemy’s ability, then why would they be affected by his thoughts and develop in a direction favorable to him?

He thought for a while, but before Kiyohara Jun could reach any conclusion, his thoughts were interrupted by his adjutant once again.

“Do not space out,” the old nanny said sternly.

After his thoughts were interrupted, Kiyohara Jun expressionlessly began reading through the file before him, which had already stayed there for some time without being turned to the next page.

Guard the Port Mafia’s No. 1 Armory? A mission like this should be given to

【Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap. I only noticed this on my second watch!】

【Kiyohara Jun, as expected of you.】

【Kiyohara Jun 66666666.】

【He is just reading the files normally, right? Why are all of you suddenly so excited?】

【If we tell you the reason, that would be a spoiler. This is different from the earlier details that could be deduced.】

【Stop being riddlers. A spoiler is a spoiler!】

【Then I will say it. In a moment, Kiyohara will accept this mission. While all of us are confused about why Kiyohara Jun accepted this mission, this armory will be attacked. Then Kiyohara Jun will appear and stop the attacker.】

【Right. Look here. Kiyohara Jun is obviously reading this file more slowly than the other files afterward. Clearly, he has noticed something wrong, which is why he is reading it slowly.】

【I just looked ahead and came back. It is indeed slower than when he reads the later files. But the file only contains the mission information “guard the Port Mafia’s No. 1 Armory.” How did he analyze that there was a problem? And how did you all reach the conclusion that there was a problem?】

【Actually, it is still because we have watched the later plot. Once you know the result, reasoning backward becomes much simpler. As for how Kiyohara Jun knew, he must have known some other information, but the anime did not show it.】

There might be a problem with the mission to guard the No. 1 Armory?

Kiyohara Jun paused in the act of turning the file. The No. 1 Armory was the Port Mafia’s most important armory, and the people guarding it were all his subordinates. This mission had only been issued to him because it was time for his subordinates there to change shifts.

Suddenly, an idea appeared in Kiyohara Jun’s mind. Since the bullet comments said he would go to the No. 1 Armory, why should he not go and test it?

If he did not go, and what the bullet comments said was true, then once something happened to the No. 1 Armory, he would certainly be unable to escape responsibility. If he went, and the No. 1 Armory turned out to be a trap set for him through the bullet comments by the enemy, then there was also a good chance he would be held accountable.

Since there was a possibility of being held accountable whether he went or not, why should he not go once and take the opportunity to verify whether the bullet comments were real?

Kiyohara Jun lowered his eyes, and his eyelashes cast a shadow. He picked up a fountain pen, signed his name on the mission form for guarding the No. 1 Armory, and lightly placed it on the left.

Afterward, Kiyohara Jun continued browsing the remaining files. One file after another was placed on the right by him, and only the occasional one or two were assigned to the left.

【Compared with the other missions placed on the left, that mission to guard the armory really looks completely out of place.】

【Is Kiyohara Jun really as godly as you all say? Maybe he accepted this mission purely on impulse.】

【On impulse, uh… As long as you are happy.】

【Keep watching, and you will know. Later on, that is when he truly becomes godly. He predicts a whole pile of plans.】

【His eyes even have a super chuunibyou title: “The Eyes That See Through the Future and the Truth.”】

Kiyohara Jun expressionlessly finished dealing with all the files. In the end, he handed both stacks of files to Kogu Takuto.

“The ones I signed are missions I will personally appear for.” As expected, Kiyohara Jun saw a look of surprise appear on Kogu Takuto’s face when he saw the mission to guard the No. 1 Armory.

“You are going to guard the No. 1 Armory?” Kogu Takuto frowned. “A matter like this can just be assigned to ordinary members. What are you going there for?”

Kiyohara Jun shook his head and did not tell Kogu Takuto the reason. After all, he had not yet determined whether the bullet comments were an enemy’s ability, and whether the content of the bullet comments was true also remained open to discussion. If Kogu Takuto knew the truth, he would definitely stop him from going.

“I must go.” Kiyohara Jun spoke firmly. But then he remembered that guard duty was a long-term mission, and he could not possibly go every day. After hesitating briefly, he said, “I will not go every day. Help me keep the news that I am going hidden.”

If something really was going to happen to the No. 1 Armory, and if the enemy planned to attack it, then once the enemy learned he was there, they would definitely abandon the plan and wait until he left before attacking.

There was no such thing as guarding against thieves forever.

【Do none of you think there is anything wrong with an executive candidate going to guard an armory?】

【Jun says he is going to guard it, but in reality, he will at most go inspect it once. If an executive candidate stayed there every day, the people under him would be the first to object.】

【Wait, do none of you think something is wrong? Kiyohara Jun said “keep the news hidden”!】

【“Keep the news hidden.” How does Jun know there is a mole?】

【This is way too ridiculous. From just this bit of information, and maybe some information we do not know about, he even deduced that there is a mole?】

【Does the author even care about logic when cheating like this?】

【It should be hidden in information we do not know. I feel that since the author is so meticulous about details, there is no way they would cheat without logic.】

【Shocked face.jpg is me right now.】

【Who would not be shocked? When Kiyohara Jun catches that mole later, we all thought he had found him through the listening device. In the end, we did not expect that he already knew there was a mole now.】

【I suppose this is the Scriptwriter Group’s mysterious source of information.】

What mole?

Looking at the bullet comments, Kiyohara Jun felt bewildered for the umpteenth time.

He had only told Takuto to keep the news hidden because he did not want it leaked.

Could it be that something he said casually had actually turned out to be right?

Thinking this, Kiyohara Jun could not help revealing an expression that seemed to question reality itself.

The mole really had been a coincidence! He truly had not known that there was also a mole near the No. 1 Armory!

However, a listening device did indeed seem like a good idea. Kiyohara Jun revealed a thoughtful expression.

Jun, you were clearly still trying to verify whether the bullet comments were real, yet before you knew it, you had started believing them again.
