Chapter 9
Even after the vision containing Sharon’s final moments ended, I could not say anything for a long while.
Her end had been far too miserable, and it left my chest aching with a heavy, stifling sorrow.
Anger and sadness mixed together, making my stomach churn.
After taking a few deep breaths and calming my complicated emotions, I opened Sharon’s status window and examined her information in detail.
[Massacre Witch Betrayed by Everyone]
Name: Sharon Dimetia
Grade: High-grade
Type: Witch (Human)
Like Seirei, Sharon was also a high-grade summoned creature.
Two high-grade summons in a row. This was truly a jackpot.
Was my luck finally beginning to turn?
‘Judging by Seirei’s abilities… The power of this witch named Sharon must be no joke either, right? Perhaps she might even surpass her.’
Anticipation welled up within me.
My heart began to pound.
Then again, considering that a king who ruled an entire world, a pope, a saintess, and even a hero had all needed to step forward, it was obvious how powerful she must have been.
To learn more about a person named Sharon Dimetia, I carefully read through her background explanation.
[Sharon was originally born in another world called Earth, but for certain reasons, she was forcibly summoned to this other dimension.]
Earth…?
For a moment, it felt as though my eyes had opened wide.
To think I would meet someone from the homeland of my previous life here. And in this way, no less.
‘…No wonder her profanity sounded so sharp and familiar. This… makes me feel like I should treat her better. Should I call it sympathy between people in the same boat?’
My sense of kinship rose sharply.
She was the only link I had found in this unfamiliar otherworld.
Though, of course, it was only tied to the memories of my previous life.
The contents that followed were truly a spectacle.
After being summoned to another world, she received the new name Sharon Dimetia from a ‘god,’ along with powerful abilities in alchemy and cursecraft, and awakened as a ‘witch.’
And that god promised her that if she helped complete various missions, she would be returned to the world where she had originally lived, Earth.
Sharon believed those words completely and silently carried out every filthy and dangerous task the god desired.
Then, one day, after receiving an earnest request from the human kingdom and the Divine Race Alliance, she mobilized all of her alchemical knowledge to end the terrifying large-scale epidemic sweeping across the continent at the time.
But the problem was that Sharon’s talent for alchemy was far too outstanding.
So outstanding that even the god had failed to anticipate it.
During her alchemical research to stop the epidemic, she gained an immense enlightenment and obtained power far stronger and more dangerous than anything she had possessed before.
In the end, the human kingdom and the Divine Race Alliance, both fearing her power, betrayed her, and she was captured helplessly.
Falsely branded with the filthy name of a witch, she ultimately met a miserable end upon the execution pyre.
‘…What is this, if not the typical story of being used and discarded? They used her until her value ran out. No, rather, once she became too strong and turned into a threat, they threw her away without hesitation…. Filthy, shameless bastards.’
Bitterness and anger surged up at the same time.
But something was strange.
Why, in the face of this tragic story, was I not shedding even a single tear? Why was irritation instead creeping up inside me?
Ah, that was probably because of the two summoned creatures growling at each other before me, as though they could not wait to tear one another apart.
While I had been absorbed in the vision for a short while, the two summoned creatures had started arguing again.
“Hey! You goddamn bitch! I told you not to keep talking back while someone else is speaking! Where the hell did you learn those manners? Did you call me a strange woman or not? Huh? If you run that mouth carelessly, I will rip it right off! You bug-eyed elf bitch!”
Sharon snapped in a razor-sharp voice, like a thug from the marketplace.
“I most certainly did not call you a strange woman. I merely attempted to correct your vulgar and irreverent words and conduct because they were defiling the sacred space of our lord. Oh, merciful god! Please take pity upon that poor, lost lamb, forgive her sins, and prevent the dreadful misfortune in which I must personally strike down that lowly soul…….”
Seirei did not back down either, responding with words that were closer to a curse than a sacred prayer.
“Hah! Well, I am so baffled I can barely speak! Hey, what kind of bullshit is that? Who the hell are you to judge me? Are you really that desperate to get killed by me today?”
A bloodthirsty aura swirled through the dungeon like a storm.
Sharon’s profanity was not merely thick, but almost earthy in its force, and Seirei stood against it without yielding an inch, offering threats disguised as prayers.
It was truly on the verge of becoming a complete disaster.
‘…It seems these two really do not get along.’
I watched for a moment, wondering what would happen, but this was no ordinary disagreement.
They were sworn enemies who could hardly wait to devour one another.
A thought occurred to me that perhaps the color of the light that appeared during summoning indicated good and evil alignments.
Seirei had appeared in golden light, while Sharon had appeared in black light.
If that were the case, did that mean Sharon, who had appeared in black light, had an evil alignment?
Judging by the way vivid profanity flew out every time she opened her mouth, she did not seem particularly inclined toward goodness.
She certainly appeared to have the worst possible compatibility with Seirei.
“Hmm……. Sharon?”
I cautiously called her name.
“Ah! Master Summoner! Please wait just a moment! I will thoroughly fix the rotten manners of that insolent elf bitch.”
Sharon answered fiercely and tried to lunge at Seirei again.
Sigh. I let out a deep sigh and had no choice but to dismiss Seirei.
For now, this was the best option.
“Hey! You damned……!”
Seirei, who had been in the middle of spitting out curses, suddenly disappeared into a cluster of light.
When her opponent abruptly vanished before her eyes, Sharon looked flustered. Her wide eyes rolled awkwardly before she glanced at me.
Her expression said, ‘Ah, I messed up.’
It seemed she had only now realized that she, too, could be dismissed.
“Sharon. Shall we talk now?”
I suppressed my emotions as much as possible and spoke calmly.
“Hehe… yes, yes! Master Summoner!”
Sharon replied with an awkward laugh.
‘Hmph. Trying to gloss things over with a laugh, are you? Not happening.’
Although, across both my previous and current lives, I had absolutely no dating experience whatsoever and was walking the path of a great mage of lifelong singlehood…!
That did not mean I was naïve enough to helplessly fall for that kind of cute, coquettish smile from a woman!
Yes, I was by no means such an easy man.
“Sharon. If you do not listen to me properly from now on… you will find yourself in trouble.”
I warned her in as dignified a voice as I could manage, putting a slight weight behind my words.
“Yes! I will keep that in mind!”
Sharon answered with a thoroughly disciplined expression.
She looked a little cowed.
Still, Sharon had more tact than Seirei.
“And… do not fight with Seirei from now on.”
This was the most important issue.
If the two of them were together, far from creating a synergistic effect, it seemed they would only produce a negative one.
“Seirei…?”
Sharon tilted her head.
“I mean the elf lady from earlier.”
“Ahh~! You mean the one whose common sense took a one-way trip to Andromeda… Ah, no, I mean that sacred elf lady.”
There she went again.
‘It really was a good thing I dismissed Seirei beforehand.’
I let out a sigh of relief inwardly.
If Seirei had heard that, war would have broken out all over again.
In any case, I did not expect the two of them to suddenly become best friends, but I firmly made it clear that they were not to fight in front of me, at the very least.
Fortunately, Sharon nodded, albeit reluctantly.
Still, it seemed she could understand words fairly well.
Perhaps… this time, I had drawn a rather normal(?) summoned creature.
Except for the profanity, that was.
“Good. Then let us get to the point. What exactly can you do?”
I asked in order to confirm her abilities.
The status window explanation briefly stated that cursecraft and alchemy were her main specialties.
But that information alone made it difficult to grasp precisely what abilities she possessed or how high her level was.
“As for me… hmm….”
Sharon paused for a moment, then began explaining her abilities one by one in an orderly manner.
First, she said that by using cursecraft, she could place all kinds of vicious and sinister curses on a target, such as weakening their abilities or restricting certain actions.
It seemed like a rather useful ability.
She also said that, through alchemy, she could craft various items or strengthen existing ones.
That also looked extremely useful.
Especially for me right now, when I had nothing to my name.
Just in case, I asked whether she could make anything using the Low-grade Magic Crystals piled up in Subspace like miscellaneous junk.
At that, Sharon answered with confidence, as though she had been waiting for the question. She even thrust her chest out proudly.
“Magic Crystals? Hehe, of course I can! That is my specialty.”
“Oh! Really?”
What kind of item could she make? My anticipation swelled like a balloon.
“Hmm… with Low-grade Magic Crystals, I could make a Low-grade Mana Elixir. The materials are a little lousy, though.”
“A Low-grade Mana Elixir? What is that?”
I tilted my head at the name of an item I was hearing for the first time. I had never heard of it even in my previous life.
“To put it simply, it is a potion that permanently increases the maximum mana capacity of the person who drinks it. It is a kind of permanent stat-increase potion!”
Sharon explained with sparkling eyes.
After hearing her explanation, my eyes sparkled as well.
‘It permanently increases total mana capacity?’
This was practically an overpowered item.
