CHAPTER 9

Chapter 9 : “Fish’s” Real Name

June 27, 2026

“The narration phase of the third round has ended. Entering the discussion phase.”

Following the host’s announcement, the atmosphere among the four of them grew tense.

“…How about,” Rabbit asked somewhat hesitantly, “We continue voting randomly?”

Although Rabbit herself was the one who had proposed the “tie vote for peace” strategy, now even she herself no longer trusted that strategy much.

Earlier, she could still deceive herself, thinking perhaps everyone would be unwilling to kill, and therefore they could maintain a superficial peace

But now, after Bear, Wolf, and Fish had successively torn off the fig leaf, everyone knew in their hearts… whoever still believed everyone could peacefully vote out a tie was clearly the one who deserved to be eliminated.

And clearly, Fox and Fish were both intelligent people.

Whether in age, intelligence, or education, she and Raccoon were inferior to them. If they faced them head-on in a contest of strategy, they basically had no chance of winning.

Under these circumstances, random voting was instead a way out.

“I think that works!”

Raccoon eagerly followed up.

There had been too many people earlier, so she could not calculate it. But now there were only four people left, so the probability was much simpler to work out.

Although she could not calculate the exact probability as precisely as Fish… the current situation was really quite clear.

If all four of them voted for one side, then Wolf would die;

If they split two and two, then it would be a tie;

If three people voted for one side, then the person on the other side would be eliminated.

Raccoon had no pen or paper at hand, and her mind was also a mess. Relying on intuition, she roughly calculated it and felt that her chance of surviving through randomness actually was not low!

If it was purely random, then the probability of her being eliminated in this round should be less than one-fourth! In other words, only when a 3:1 voting pattern formed, and that one vote was hers, would she be voted out in this round.

Even if it was not exactly that, it should be close!

As for the following rounds, she could no longer calculate them. If she added in the subsequent probabilities, her brain would start overheating!

“I advise you youngsters not to mess around.”

At this moment, Fish spoke.

Without hesitation, he said, “It would still be better to vote out Wolf.

Aren’t you afraid I’ll change my vote? Then how about the four of us vote for the same voting pattern? That way, if I change my vote, won’t I be killed by all of you?”

“You’re trying that again?”

Raccoon’s brows furrowed tightly. “Do you think we’ll still believe you?”

The face beneath her mask had already scrunched into a knot.

If she had to say who she hated most in this game, Fish could at least rank in the top three.

He could even firmly claim second place and compete for first!

Old Bear, who had slyly lied to harm people; Dog, who was so violent he was frightening; and now this Fish, who was astonishingly arrogant and high-and-mighty. The first two were already dead, and now only this “Fish” remained.

Perhaps it was because her first impression of “Wolf” had been relatively good, while Fish was too ugly; or perhaps it was because Wolf had patiently explained Old Bear’s harmful scheme to her, her goodwill and trust toward Wolf were clearly greater than toward Fish.

Even if Wolf claimed that he was only doing it for show effect… judging from the results, he had helped her, and he was also the person with the best attitude toward her!

Therefore, when Wolf and Fish were set against each other, she very clearly stood on Wolf’s side.

Of course, the most important reason

Was probably that the moment he insulted Raccoon as an “idiot,” Raccoon had already held a grudge.

At that time, Raccoon had kept silent because she had truly been bluffed by Fish, and had even wondered whether she really had thought wrong.

But afterward, Fish’s scheme was quickly exposed, and only then did she realize that Fish had also been bluffing…

That huge pile of probabilities, calculations, and percentages she could not understand had been meant to fool people!

Now, Fish had been dragged down to the same level as her… in fact, even she herself had the possibility of killing him. That disgust mixed with fear had now turned into intense resistance.

So intense… that there was even a trace of killing intent.

“That vote-changing of yours already caused three people to die! If not for you, maybe they wouldn’t have died!”

Raccoon’s voice sharpened. “You dragged them into killing Wolf, then changed your vote and killed them! Now you’re dragging us into killing Wolf again. Only an idiot would believe you!”

“You fucking are an idiot!”

Fish seemed to have sensed Raccoon’s hostility. His eyes immediately widened, and he shouted angrily, “You don’t even know you’re about to die!

Now that ‘Dog’ is dead, you’re the narrator of the final round!

No matter what you do, when it’s your turn, the survivors will definitely vote you out! Even without considering betrayal and vote-changing, reducing the number of people by one means one more share of the reward!

You’re nothing but a dead person on futures contract! What the hell are you barking about, fuck!”

Hearing this, Raccoon froze, and her face turned pale.

She also suddenly realized this problem ..bif three people remained and entered the final round of voting, then to prevent running into that one-third probability of death, they would most likely all vote for her.

Even if only two people entered the final round, it seemed they could save her through a tied vote… but for the sake of the reward, they might very well join hands to kill her!

Then no matter how she voted, she was already dead.

In that case, what meaning did this game have for her at all?

“You’re flying into a rage from embarrassment, aren’t you?”

At this moment, Fox finally spoke, slowly and leisurely. “Earlier, when you ordered Raccoon around, you wanted to quietly bind her vote. After all, if Raccoon is eliminated, then when you become the narrator, you will also face the same situation.

Only if Raccoon is still alive when you become the narrator will you have any chance of surviving.

What, turning hostile now… because you finally realized you can’t accomplish that?

I guessed right, didn’t I, President Mo?”

“…President Mo?”

Hearing this, Rabbit suddenly raised her head and looked toward Fish.

She murmured softly, and finally remembered who this person was. “You’re that Mo Qian from Qiancheng Technology?”

She finally knew why this name had sounded somewhat familiar.

Rabbit had indeed heard of this person, because he was a fairly big internet celebrity… at least much bigger than her.

Mo Qian was an internet celebrity who had become famous on a certain question-and-answer platform. He did not have a particularly high education level. Back then, he had studied finance overseas, but before he graduated, he was ostracized and returned to the country in disgrace.

After returning, he had opened a company while still very young… of course, the initial startup capital came from support from his family. However, as a young and promising CEO, he naturally had quite a group of supporters on the internet.

And perhaps because he had ridden the wave at the right time, his career could be described as smooth sailing. In the beginning, his Qiancheng Technology made input methods. The “Qiancheng Input Method” was the origin of Qiancheng Technology’s name.

Its adoption rate could be said to have been quite high… among the input method brands that had bloomed in abundance back then, it was one of the very few that opened a skin store and allowed users to create their own skins, upload them for sale, or use them. In addition, it immediately adapted to mobile phones at the earliest opportunity, and even expanded its business into mobile themes, making a large sum of money.

Later, on the eve of the rise of artificial intelligence, Qiancheng Technology transformed into a big data service company. A special big data algorithm they developed could precisely analyze the things users were interested in. Later, a group-level e-commerce company purchased their algorithm… and afterward, it simply bought their entire company outright.

And after becoming thoroughly rich, Mo Qian did not become low-key either.

He still frequently appeared on that question-and-answer platform and was one of the few major figures in that community ordinary people could contact and receive responses from.

He often shared some “life experience” or things he was currently researching. Usually, they were only superficial explorations, but he was indeed energetic.

Moreover, on all sorts of current affairs topics, he always had an active desire to speak up. Many times, before matters had fully settled, he would passionately publish a set of seemingly reasonable views, only to be slapped in the face by the boomerang afterward… After this happened many times, combined with the fact that his fans were indeed fanatical, he became a major figure on the internet who was half hated and half popular.

To be more precise, he was even more hated than popular.

The reason Rabbit and Raccoon did not react immediately was entirely because they had not remembered the name “Mo Qian” at all.

Compared to his real name, the title “President Mo,” which carried a hint of mockery within its respect, was the more commonly used name for “Fish.”

“And as far as I know,” Fox sneered, “your company was never clean to begin with.”

“…Who are you?”

Fish’s brows knitted tightly, and he finally began taking Fox seriously.
